Ebay Partner Network On MutliSite Install With Domain Mapping

    Hi,

    I’ve recently set up a new blog network which with domain mapping. I’d like to allow my members to use their own Ebay Partner Network accounts on their blogs, but I can’t work out how to sort the validation part out.

    Ebay requires that a validation file be uploaded into the root of the domain, e.g. domain.com/ebaypartnernetworkactivation.txt

    The problem is, where do I get users to upload the validation file too. The file must be in userdomain.com/ebaypartnernetworkactivation.txt

    I just tried it using a test domain and uploaded the file to the root of my main network domain, then loaded testdomain.com/ebaypartnernetworkactivation.txt and I can see it in the browser…

    As this worked it obviously means I can only have one validation file in the root… so how do I make it so each blog can be validated into the Ebay Partner Program for each separate user?

    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Not entirely sure I understand your set up but you should be able to use your web servers rewrite module to pick up the correct file?

    In your domain root directory add something like this to your .htaccess file:

    # Map ebaypartnernetworkactivation.txt files to user specific content

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(.*)ebaypartnernetworkactivation.txt$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(.*)userdomain.com$
RewriteRule . /user_path/userdomain_ebaypartnernetworkactivation.txt [L]
</IfModule>

    This is almost certainly completely wrong as I have not tested it! The idea is if something requests the ‘ebaypartnernetworkactivation.txt’ file and the host matches the userdomain then actually return the content of the ‘/user_path/userdomain_…’ file instead.
