    Is there a hook/filter or template file that I can duplicate into my child theme so that I can customise the outgoing email that is sent when an auto-update happens on my site? I want to be able to send my client an customizes email update that says your website has received an update, please contact me at XXXX email if there are any problems.

    There are three hooks:

    auto_core_update_send_email
    send_core_update_notification_email
    automatic_updates_send_debug_email

    Unfortunately, none of those hooks allow you to change the email being sent, but rather enable/disable them.

    What you can do is disable those filters, hook into the automatic_updates_complete action, and create an email from there that will customize the output.
