Edit English language

    I am wanting to change various phrases throughout WP, for example registration confirmation emails, comment emails, etc.

    There does not appear to be an English language pack in the default package. Is there some kind of language file that can be edited? If not what would I be looking for in regards to files to edit phrases for emails, etc.?
