• I am working on my first WordPress site for a client and would like to adjust the main navigation. Three of the main nav links have drop down menu items, and I want it adjusted so that when hovering over these, you are not able to select the main nav item (since there is no content on those pages). I want to be able to edit the HTML to adjust the href to # so it’s not acting as an actual link. The site is http://www.experteditor.net.
Based on what I read, I wasn’t sure if I needed to use the custom menu widget or what the best option was.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Do not edit the Twenty Twelve theme. It is the current default WordPress theme and having access to an original, unedited, copy of the theme is vital in many situations. First create a child theme for your changes. Or install a custom CSS plugin.

Just create a menu item pointing to http://www.experteditor.net/#. From the admin dashboard, go to Appearances > Menus. If you haven’t already selected Main_Menu as your Primary menu, go ahead & select it, then Save.

Then, in the Custom Links section on the left, add http://www.experteditor.net/# as the link and then the text you want to use as the menu label. Click the Add to Menu button and the menu item will appear in the list of menu items on the right. Drag it to the appropriate place, then drag the sub-menu items underneath it. Click Save Menu.
