    Hi Support,

I noticed that UsersWP updates the author base permalink to use /profile. But is there a way to edit the Profile slug from https://domain.com/profile/nicename to https://domain.com/profile/firstname-lastname ?

I guess most sites use userlogin as nicename and I’d prefer to not make the userlogin public. The slug may be updated to either firstname-lastname or better yet to a hash value.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello,

Username is a required field for registering a user on the site where as first name and last name are optional so in multiple cases where either first name and last name not available then the user will not be able to see or mange the profile that’s why we use username.

Username appears in the WordPress default author link as well.

We do not have any features that would generate the username based on other field values but that could be implemented by a developer in your own customization.

If you need further help please open a support ticket here: https://userswp.io/support/

I’m happy with a random hash value too just to not display the user_nicename. But, thank you.

PS: I’d probably try a plugin like “Edit Author Slug” for such needs.

    Kind regards
