I’m not 100% confident, but that reminds me to a plugin called “Visual Composer” (a plugin that helps designing your website). If for some reason, that plugin is faulty, of has been removed, all the internal codes embedded in posts and pages will be released and you will be able to see them like that. The solution is, either cleaning those snippets, or reinstalling the right version of that Visual Composer plugin (again I’m not 100% confident if its this plugin or another)
Thanks for the reply. I don’t have Visual Composer installed so that’s not it. Oddly, the problem is not replicated on my iPad nor does it happen on a friends PC when I tried it earlier. So it looks like an issue with my PC.

Exactly. The issue is that your site’s content is built with Visual Composer but the plugin is no longer installed or active.
I didn’t create the website but I have been managing it for over a year. I have not deleted Visual Composer.
If Visual Composer is installed and active, then please contact them.
Support of all commercial themes and plugins is out of scope for these forums. While we will not close your post, we also cannot guarantee any support at all, be that by volunteers or the developers. We recommend you instead use the developer’s official contact for their premium offerings, as that is the most direct line.

In the end it proved to be ridiculously easy. A friend suggested clearing my browser’s cache, which I did, and its all working perfectly.
oops, forgot to tick Resolved.
