editing the html

This is very annoying. Everytime I edit my posts using the edit html (sometimes I add a picture to the post and I type it wrong, so I need to edit the html), the entire post vanishes leaving me only with the image that I added or that I edited the html (the path to it).
What I do whenever I have to edit a post to add an image is I make sure the html to the image is right and I create a new post with the text and proper html, and then delete the original post. It’s getting annoying.
Either I am doing something wrong or there’s a bug.
