The linked event is only one of many on our site that is not working properly. They ALL have this problem. Multiple editors have attempted and failed to get the Events Calendar working.

We can go to the “Edit” screen for events, add or change the relevant information, and save it. However, the edit does not appear when I view the “updated” event. Sometimes – but not always – it appears on the event when viewed on the website not in edit mode, but when I click through to edit again, the edits disappear. Sometimes, some edits appear while others do not. On the linked page, the image does not appear but other edits do when viewed on the website, but when in edit mode, none of the changes appear.) We cannot update dates, times, descriptions, images, or any other information. Saving takes a long time – upwards of 30 seconds in some cases. When the edit does take, the slug on the main calendar does not update (the “more details coming soon” still displays) and sometimes the edits disappear after logging out.

These problems have persisted for two and a half months, and we are getting into serious issue territory – we depend on our calendar; if we can’t edit it or add to it, we will lose our audience entirely.

We get the same results on Firefox (147.0.4 on Windows), Chrome (144.0.7559.133), Safari, Windows 11 Pro (25H2), and Mac. (I’m not on Mac at the moment so can’t give versions without losing this post). We remain updated on all platforms and software versions. We have purged the cache (multiple times), deactivated all plugins to eliminate potential conflicts, updated the PHP to 8.4 and rolled it back to 8.0, then updated again to 8.4.

What else can we do to fix this, short of changing to a completely different calendar plugin?

    Hi @anneorsi ,

    Thank you for reaching out.

A lot of these situations can be attributed to caching and performance solutions, so I’d recommend we start with that. I can see that your site is running the WP-Optimize plugin. As such, I recommend you go over our WP-Optimize knowledge base article for some suggested configurations.

Otherwise, if the issue persists, I suspect there’s a conflict that’s causing the issue. It would be good to test for conflicts. Kindly follow the steps below.

    1. Deactivate all other plugins except for The Events Calendar plugin.
    2. Switch to the Default theme.
    3. Make edits to an event and save it.

Please read the Testing for Conflicts Article before doing anything.

To be safe, we’d recommend conducting tests and updates on a Staging Server. Also, please keep a working backup of your website.
