element only on first page

Hi, I’m trying to have an element only on the first page of my index and of some category templates, as in when you click “older posts” and visit page two, that element disappears. For example, on my video category template I want to display a featured video above my posts on the first page, but when clicking to the second page of the videos category into “older posts”, I would like just posts to be displayed, without the video. I’m trying to do similar things with my index.php and some other category templates.

Does anybody know how this can be done?
