Elementor doesn’t load child theme’s header.php when UAE is active
-
I set up a WordPress site with Elementor, Hello Elementor, the Hello Child theme and Ultimate Addons for Elementor to add a header and footer for the entire site. Eventually I copied the header.php and footer.php from the parent theme into my child theme folder and was wondering for way too long, why it wouldn’t show my changes. Instead, it was showing the header.php from the parent theme. As soon as I deactivated UAE, the child’s header.php was loaded.
This seems to be a bug, can you have a look?

Hi @msbt,
Thank you for explaining the situation clearly.
Just to confirm how UAE works:
If you have a Header created inside Ultimate Addons for Elementor, that header will always take priority and be displayed on the site. In that case, WordPress won’t load theheader.phpfile from your child theme, this is expected behavior when a UAE Header is active. However, if UAE is showing the parent theme’s header.php instead of your child theme’s version, then something in the setup may not be behaving as intended.
To understand this properly, could you please share a quick screencast showing:
- Which Header you’ve created in UAE
- How it’s set to display on the site
- What you see on the front-end when UAE is active
- Your Site URL where this issue is happening so we can check the same further.
This will help us see the exact situation and check whether the plugin is overriding correctly or if something else is affecting it.
You can also send the details privately via our support form if that’s easier:

DhruvHey Dhruv, thanks for the reply, I’ll follow up via the support form, but can you check the page, the layout is broken.
Hi @msbt,
Absolutely, I’d be happy to take a look.
Could you please share the URL of the page where the layout appears broken? Once I have that, I can check what’s happening on the front end and guide you accordingly.
You’re welcome to continue the conversation here, and if you’ve already reached out through the support form, that’s perfectly fine too. Any additional details you can provide will help us check this more accurately.
Looking forward to your update.
Best regards,
DhruvHey Dhruv, it was the link you pasted to the contact page, but seems the glitch was only temporary. Continuing via email. Cheers
