Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out!
When an automation gets stuck at the Delay step, there are a couple of things to check.
1. Understand how this automation is classified
Since you’re using the “Someone Subscribes” trigger, this is considered a marketing email in MailPoet — meaning it requires explicit consent from the recipient. Adding a Delay action means the email will only be sent to subscribers with a “Subscribed” status. So if your friend’s status is still “Unconfirmed” when the delay resolves, the email simply won’t go out. Make sure they fully completed the double opt-in confirmation before testing.
2. Check the subscriber’s status in the automation
Go to WP Admin > MailPoet > Automations, click into your Welcome automation, and open the Subscribers tab. Find your friend’s entry and check the Status column — if it shows Failed, click “View Activity” to see exactly which step failed and why.
3. Check if other emails are also not sending
If it’s not just automations but also newsletters or post notifications that aren’t sending, the issue is likely with your task scheduler (cron). In that case, review the sending troubleshooting guide for steps to fix it.
Could you let us know:
- What status does your friend show under the Automations > Subscribers tab?
- Are other MailPoet emails (like newsletters) sending fine, or is everything stuck?
- Could you also share your domain name? This will help us take a closer look on our end.
Looking forward to your reply!
