Email for Admin Access Unknown

    Hello,

    The job I used to work at, and am currently doing some volunteer work for, has had some problems with its website and I was looking to update it thanks to the go-ahead from the Director. The problem is that the username and password that we had written down for editing the website isn’t working and we are completely unsure what the reset email would be as the Historical Society has had several directors over the existence of the website.

    Is there anyway to figure this out so we can try to talk to our email provider about forwarding emails to the directors email?

    Check/Change Password, Username, Email in database:
    – The password is encrypted and stored in the database in the users table. To reset password, review http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Resetting_Your_Password
    – Username is also stored in the users table. To change username, click the edit button (the pencil icon) next to your user and change what is entered into the user_login field.
    – To change the email address for the admin user account, click the edit button (the pencil icon) next to your user and change what is entered into the user_email field.
    – You can update the admin email for your site in the wp_options table, and replace the email address in the row with the key “admin_email”. See this help guide helps: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-change-the-wordpress-admin-email/

    I would suggest to get into your server cpanel and edit the password from there so as to minimize disturbance to other personnels. Like what t-p has suggested in the first point. Hope this helps.
