    I have filled in the display name on some users. Those users when I assign them to agent will not get an email. Other uses who are listed as their user names (no display name filled in) do get the emails. It seems that the assigned agent field is trying to do a lookup based on display name – and therefore not getting the email address.

    After further testing, I realized that in fact the emailing works on both types of names. The problem was that while I was testing, I was assigning to myself tickets. In that instance the email may not go out. Which is ok.
