Hi, I’m not sure there is a work around to this as WordPress mail is set to use SMTP by default and not APIs. The plugin hooks into the SMTP mail function and stops it going any further, relaying the mail content through Microsoft APIs.
By default the plugin saves all sent mail in your Office 365 mail account. Hence you will have an audit/record of all emails sent within Office 365 itself rather than WordPress.
Hi, ok that makes sense and true about the sent mail folder in O365. If trying to diagnose missing sent mail, then if it is not in the sent folder in O365 that would mean something on the WordPress site may have gone wrong.
The main issue then is getting to know if the WordPress API mail method fails, so I can go and check and take some remedial action.
As an example, if the plugin could report an API error (might be authentication, or some connection or other process error) then at least I would know about a problem on the WordPress site, rather than O365.
So I am thinking about some form of error handling type notification/log. This kind of thing would be useful (for me at least) but appreciate you may have other priorities.
Thanks
Tim
Hi Tim, that makes sense. I’ll see what I can do, but it might be a while. I’ve just set up a company and I’m in the process of bidding for some contracts, as well as doing the day job, so quite busy!
No problem. That sounds interesting, good luck with the new business – which I guess is software related. Are you UK based?
I ask because I am also just starting up a new business. I did have a software business which I sold a couple of years back and am just getting stuck into a new venture.
