I am using the Easy WP SMTP plugin… just wanted to tell you in case it has some impact
Have you tried without that plugin?
I think our plugin support this plugin.

Try switching that plugin and testing with wp mail smtp

Have you tested with other mail clients like gmail?
Do you see the same problem there?
I have used my own hosted email accounts and hotmail and outlook
And all the emails are the same – they are unformatted
I get the same results using 2 websites with this plugin
I will do some more digging to see if its a plugin conflict and let you know

All the other buddypress emails are still sent with the correct formatting

This is the line where the mail content-type is set.
As you can see it is set to text/html

But your client display that as Plain text. Can you test it with gmail? So I can make sure the problem is with your mail client or not.
