• I would like to use emojis on my pages, but when using an emoji plugin, it only shows ????? instead of the selected emoji. Is there custom css that needs to be used for these to display properly?

  • Hey,

Can you link to the plugin so that I can test? Can you also link to your page so I can see the error?

    Thanks,

Sorry about that. I should have included that originally!

The plugin is Native Emoji : https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/native-emoji/

And the page on my site is: http://www.joycediveleypottery.com/event-schedule/

(I’ve removed all the other emojis that I had attempted to add so the page wasn’t littered with “???”)

    Thank you for your assistance.

I just tested and the plugin works on my test site. I suggest going through all other active plugins on your site, and deactivate them one by one, seeing if the emojis show when a certain plugin is OFF.

Also, if you can link to a page where the question marks show so that I can see this?

Here is the page with the question marks: http://www.joycediveleypottery.com/event-schedule/

I’m not seeing any errors. let me know when you test the plugins, something is preventing the emojis from showing, and it’s not the theme since it works on my site.

I’ve deactivated each plugin, one at a time, and it hasn’t made a difference. The page still shows ???? after updating. I even tried inserting emojis on a different page. Same thing. The emoji is there in the editor view, but not in a preview and after I click Update, it changes to ????. There must be something I’m missing, obviously. But I’m beginning to wonder if I need to just give it up and move on. I appreciate your input on this. Thanks so much!

Did you clear your cache after turning each plugin OFF?

Are you adding any html around the emojis? I’m trying to replicate the issue as it shows on your site, but can’t figure out how.

Yes. I deactivated a plugin. Cleared cached. Edited page, adding an emoji or two, and then previewed. It shows ????. Went back to page, emoji is still showing. Hit update and when the visual editor refreshes, there are now ????.

I deactivated every single plugin that’s running (a total of 10) one at a time and nothing worked. I cannot figure this out.

Do the icons work properly when you activate a default theme, such as 2017?
