• On my blog ( http://blog.paulpehrson.com ), I have enabled the option “Convert emoticons like πŸ™‚ and πŸ˜› to graphics on display.”

Today one of my users posted this comment in which his first sentence ends with five exclamation points, and his second sentence ends with three exclamation points.

Here is the what is in the comment, when I try to edit it:

    ahem...

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!! *gasp *gasp BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

It appears, however that WP is trying to render three exclamation points as an emoticon. The resulting HTML is this:

    <tt><span class=”caps”>BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA</span><img src=”!” alt=”” border=”0″ />!! *gasp *gasp <span class=”caps”>BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA</span><img src=”!” alt=”” border=”0″ /></tt>

I looked at the emoticon list, and I don’t see where three exclamation points are supposed to be rendered as an emoticon. Is this some weird error only on my site? Is it a theme problem? Or is there a biggere underlying problem here?

    Thanks!!

I have verified that on my blog the only emoticon replacement that is being replaced incorrectly is the !!! being replaced with <img src=”!” alt=”” border=”0″ />

Is this happening for anybody else? If this is a bug, how should it be reported?
