Empty Text toolbar?
-
Hi
Are you aware of ay issue with the Text toolbar showing empty in the latest version of WordPress?
Could it be related to Autoptimize?
-
doesn’t ring a bell, but not sure what you mean, can you share a screenshot chuckie?
The TinyMCE toolbar is OK:
But the plain Text version is blank:
and that’s in the backend (post/ page edit screen with classic editor) or on the frontend (e.g. using buddypress or something else that adds an editor to front-end content editing)?
Frontend with bbPress
OK, that _could_ be AO. When you visit the same page with
?ao_noptirocket=1appended to the URL, do the text editor controls show up?OK, more questions:
* what JS errors show up on the browser console?
* what is your AO JS configuration?First two check boxes ticked. And this in exclude list:
wp-includes/js/dist/, wp-includes/js/tinymce/, js/jquery/jquery.js, js/jquery/jquery.min.js, wp-content/plugins/enlighter/, wp-content/plugins/PDFEmbedder-premium/.Not sure how to identify the JS errors in thatt console output.
see https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/using-your-browser-to-diagnose-javascript-errors/#step-3-diagnosis for info on where/ how to catch JS errors on the console Chuckie 🙂
(will be away for next hour or so, more later tonight)
I am sorry, but I don’t see anything of note in the log …. And toggling between the two does nothing.
It seems to me we need to add the bbPress to the list of excluded plugins?
I just can’t see anything related to this in the log.
do you have a URL you can share where I could see the bug?
Just tested with the “Comment Form with TinyMCE” plugin and can’t reproduce the issue with text input in that context, so there seems to be no basic issue with tinymce/ text editing on the frontend and Autoptimize ..

Temporarily create a user account at http://www.publictalksoftware.co.uk and the once approved you can try the Create New Topic link.
OK, can you try adding
wp-includes/js/quicktags.min.jsto the comma-separated JS optimization exclusions Chuckie?😊 It seems to be behaving very well now. You are very clever.
How did you work out it was that? Whatever that is!
