Hello – I mistakenly disabled the category prefix. I am getting different SEO errors and want to re-enable this. When I adjusted the toggle, the category wasn’t added back in. Are there additional steps I need to take for this?

Thank you for the response. Here is the screenshot showing the “show category” enabled. https://pasteboard.co/eJb7KYu1YsYE.png

Here is a URL to one of my posts but it isn’t showing the Category https://pasteboard.co/KgPy7hgML0lY.png

I cleared the site cache after enabling it.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the screenshots, @robertamkent. How Your Soul Speaks to You is a post. Can you let me know what category it is assigned to?

Also, I visited all your post categories like /law-of-attraction/ and the category prefix is in the slug.

Thanks for looking at this @maybellyne!

All of the posts are organized under the primary category of either blog or meditation – as laid out on the menu page. There may be other categories assigned to the posts but “blog” or “meditation” are the primary. And I believe these were what were showing up in the URL on specific posts before I disabled it.

When I click into the individual posts I’m still not seeing the category, including for the law of attraction post. The link you included for law of attraction is going to the “law of attraction” category. So it shows up on the category page. Here’s the blog category page for example https://pasteboard.co/cbunGymLkPNF.png

But If you click into the specific Law of Attraction post the category doesn’t show in the url.

Screenshot of menu page is here in case you need it. https://pasteboard.co/occ9hvHYUDLZ.png

I’m not sure if I’m explaining this well so let me know. Thanks again

@maybellyne I also just tested this out to see what would happen with a new post and the category prefix is not in the Slug. So the prefix is not showing up in either old or new posts. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the added information, @robertamkent. I toggled OFF then ON the Show the categories prefix in the slug button and I got my category back in the slug. Could it be that we have different setups?

In WordPress > Settings > Permalinks, I have custom structure set to /%category%/%postname%/

If that’s what you have already, please save the permalinks settings without making any changes. Next, follow this steps:

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations‘, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation‘, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

Do let us know how it goes.
