• Took me a bit to isolate this but it appears that something somewhere in the GDE scripts that enables editor integration (and sticks that button there on the interface) also breaks the “Add Media > Insert into Post” functionality.

I disable editor integration and then it works fine.

    My question is:
    a) any idea why that happens?
    b) if editor integration is disabled, is there another way to embed docs in posts without that button in the editor (preferably that a layman can accomplish)?

Nevermind on b). You can just use the shortcode, right? That’s easy enough.

Do you mind explaining what exactly gets “broken” about insert into post? I use GDE and that functionality all the time without issue.

You’re correct, the shortcode is well documented and you can certainly formulate it yourself. But I’d like more information about this so I can see if it’s something repairable or a quirk in your environment.

Good point. So here’s what happens – I take a post (create a new one, or take an old one) click “Add Media”, select the picture, click “Insert into Post” and nothing happens…that’s the broken part.

I’ve also tried adding the image independently and then “attaching” it to a post (you do this in the Media section and click “Attach” under the “Uploaded to” column). Again, nothing happens.

If I go to settings and disable the editor integration then everything works again. It seems like a javascript issue if I had to guess. What else would be useful to know about my environment?

Thanks for the extra details. Would you mind filling out a request on the support tab of GDE Settings? That will let me reproduce your environment as much as possible, or if you’re willing you can privately give me temporary access to your admin panel that way. I’ve tried to reproduce your steps but haven’t been successful. It’s certainly not normal behavior, but I’m glad you’re able to work around it for now by disabling the integration.
