Encryption Key

    I wanted to update to WP 3.5 and did a manual full backup, saved to my PC. Now as fate would have it,I can not access my blog at all. I am getting a 500 server error and I have contacted my web hosting company for help.
    I can not log in to the dashboard of the Blog, and my backup file is encrypted. Is there any way I can obtain the key. I have no clue what it is 🙁
    I am afraid my back will be useless if I can not access it.

    Not sure if I can delete this entire post,but I can edit to say that I got back into my dashboard and found my key. I have saved that information in a secure place should I need it again. Excuse this post.

    Hi,

    The key for encrypted backups is the one you typed on General Settings when you enabled encryption. Or when you logged into online vault and it asked about encryption.

    There is always a bold message underneath telling you to remember the encryption details and write it down. If list, the backup is locked and encrypted forever and we cannot access it.

    Please note though if the backup is .zip file it is not encrypted. If .enc file it is.
