I just started using the plugin, and it seems I must be doing something wrong. I am an author of several books, and on one of them, there are two authors. For some reason, I can’t find where to enter in authors. There is a place to configure editors, illustrators, and such, but no place to enter authors.

I did see where it used my “admin” username as the author, but that is not correct. Users are the people who can use WordPress. Authors who have books in my publishing company cannot have access to WordPress. It would be very helpful if you could add authors in just like you add editors, etc. I’m not sure how people are using this plugin the way it is working with authors. It is important to realize that books can have many authors. Anthologies can have 10 authors!

If you are concerned that entering information for authors requires a lot of fields, you could switch to using the Profiles that are standard in WordPress. These allow you to enter Categories and Attributes also, which is helpful.

It would be so wonderful if you could please switch away from using Users for Authors. For a business that maintains multiple author’s books, it would be bad to give authors access to the system automatically. Like Amazon, I have my Amazon “user” account, and once I have that, I can then have the KDP Author account added, which allows additional information, and all my books under my name.

Thank you for considering this. As one piece of additional info, before I became an author, I was a software engineer and CTO for 40+ years, since 1979. So, hopefully you will take my suggestion as something I have considered carefully.

    Thank you for your message.

Wordpress calls users “authors”, most likely because it started as just blogging software and therefore users were authors of the blog posts.

If your site is showing the username as the author, that is coming from your theme and not Mooberry Book Manager. You will have to see if your theme allows for turning that off, or use custom CSS coding to hide that. Mooberry Book Manager cannot control your theme.

The free version of Mooberry Book Manager is designed to be used by one author, on the author’s site. That is why there is no author field. The author’s name should already be all over the site, clearly indicating the author of the book.

For other use cases, such as a publishing company listing books for their authors, book clubs, authors with multiple pen names, co-authors, and more, we offer the Multi-Author extension. This extension allows you to list multiple authors and includes several other relevant features. You can learn more here: https://www.mooberrybookmanager.com/downloads/multi-author/
