• Just dumped my MSOL site (horrible, just horrible in almost every way) for WP; however I did like the way in which I was able to construct each page, and am wondering if this method is possible in WP. I simply inserted images in zones (by ‘images’ I used PS files with text, pics, ect) and more or less created each entire page in this way; only other content was navigation bar, header (in which I could insert PS file), and background (which I could also simply insert an image file). My site sells one product of which there are little variances, so I need nothing except the most basic hyperlinks and a photo gallery; is this way of building pages possible in WordPress? Thanks!

  • WordPress uses an entirely different paradigm than what you are describing. You can create whatever you need to in WordPress, but the way you get there is completely different than what you are describing. If you decide to go the WordPress route you are going to have to unlearn a lot of what you have learned to do, because WordPress approaches page creation in a completely different way than what you are describing. You will have a learning curve for sure. You will have to decide if its worth the effort for you.

The way WordPress does it will actually be way better for search engines.

You’ll actually need to copy the text out, and paste it into the WordPress editor (and then upload the individual images separately into the page).

If you have a ton of pages, you could probably hire someone to help you move them over. But if you have less than 50 or so, it’ll likely just take you an afternoon.
