Error 500 – Internal server error…

    Hello –

    I have used WP for roughly 3 months on a 1and1 shared host server. My domain is http://phonenumberblog.com and my MYSQL database is about 70mb in size. Now onto the issue:

    Yesterday morning (after not making ANY changes to my site for several times) my site decided not to load. I got an error message that said:

    Error 500 – Internal server error
    An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.

    I tried to load multiple pages on my site (links from Google, Admin screen, etc) NOTHING will load, I always get the same error. I tried installing 2.3 over my 2.1.x version which was install and this did nothing new. What would you recommend I do? I installed WP in a different folder with a different DB on the same shared host and it worked. But now I am missing all of my posts 🙁

    I checked the log files and didnt see anything too unusual. Any help on this would be great appreciated.

    this is the thread of this kind in the last day mentioning 500 errors and 1&1 — its not a WP issue, it’s their problem.

    My common sense would tell me that if i had not made any changes to my site and all of a sudden started seeing Apache errors, the first place I would be looking to for answers is my host.

    I made a ticket with 1and1 Saturday morning and still have not heard anything from them. It’s strange how if I make a new blog it all works OK. I am not sure what to do as I have spent hundreds of hours working on my old database and now feel as if the dead is all gone. I have tried transfering to GoDaddy but they only allow me to upload 2MB at a time to import SQL 🙁

    After four phone calls to 1and1 (which equaled over 2 hours on the phone) they were able to get my site up and running. They claim the site was down due to maintenance on their end and them forgetting to change a setting, which I am happy they admitted. Anyone looking to get 1and1, I recommend against it!
