Error 500 – Internal server error

    I downloaded and installed the NextGEN Gallery and now when I try to go into the pages section in the admin panel I see this error:

    Error 500 – Internal server error
    An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.

    I have since deleted the plugin and I am still getting this message when go into the pages section.

    I have also try to update WordPress 3.1.2. to WordPress 3.2.1 and it says : You cannot update because WordPress 3.2.1 requires PHP version 5.2.4 or higher. You are running version 4.4.9. and While your site is being updated, it will be in maintenance mode. As soon as your updates are complete, your site will return to normal. How do I update php. My host is 1and1. I need help big time.
