Error 554 Unauthorized sender address

    On Thursday all of a sudden all my 5 contact forms on a client’s website have stopped working. If I install an SMTP plugin, they all work, but not with default PHPMailer. Forms have worked fine after big update for two weeks, then suddenly they don’t. The sender e-mail is from the same domain as URL and it’s a real mailbox, not just wordpress@

    Weirdly, if I set up a blank WordPress with just CF7 and one form (no other plugins, no extra theme), it still doesn’t work. Tried both on a subdomain and a 2nd domain on the same shared hosting (IONOS). Any ideas?

    The debug URL is the one of the blank test site on the same shared hosting, the main productive site is in maintenance mode currently.

    When you test with a plugin, you choose the right Email Address.

    “Error 554 Unauthorized sender address” is a hint that the sending address in WordPress differs from your mail account your trying to send from. IONOS changed their DKIM and DMARC behaviour.
