• When Posting an Article: Can you check off more than 1 category?

Right now, when I create an article post and check off 2 categories, there is the following error:

HTTP – 404 Page Not Found
Sorry, the page you were looking for cannot be found.

We suggest you try again, edit the address, or click on one of the links below.

    (1) Before this error occurred, I posted an article to 1 category.

    (2) Then, I went back in, and checked off a 2nd category.

    (3) That is when the error occurred.

  • What is your permalink structure? Does it include the category name? If so, the link to that post may have changed.

What happens when you click View Post in admin?

What happens when you click the post name on you Recent Posts link in the sidebar (assuming you have one)?

    (1) The permalink structure is: Date and Name

    Example:

    http://www.websitename.com/2010/02/25/article-name-here

    (2) When I click to View Post in Admin, this is the result:

    (error page with error message)

HTTP – 404 Page Not Found
Sorry, the page you were looking for cannot be found.
We suggest you try again, edit the address, or click on one of the links below.

    (3) When I click the Post Name on Recent Posts Link in Sidebar, this is the result:

    (error page with error message)

HTTP – 404 Page Not Found
Sorry, the page you were looking for cannot be found.
We suggest you try again, edit the address, or click on one of the links below.

    (4) The error page started to occur:

    (a) After I edited the permalink option, and
    (b) When I selected 2 categories for the article post via check boxes.

    (5) How I edited the permalink option:

I simply following the link in the Admin and selected the “Date and Name” format. (Is there more to it than that? Anything about permissions?)

How about a link to the site so I can see what is actually happening?

I changed the Permalink setting back to “Default”.

Now, the webpages appear without error.

Does something else need to be installed in order for the Permalink setting of “Date and Name” to work?

Does this have anything to do with:

ht access file (.htaccess) with rewrite rule has to be present…

Seems like you may have entered the permalink structure incorrectly. Did you enter it under Custom Structure or did you select the Day and name radio button?

What if you enter a custom structure like /%year%/%category%/%postname%/

Via selecting the Day and Name radio button.
