Error after new ticket

After submitting a form, the ticket is created in Zendesk as expect. However, somewhat later and email will arrive with the following:
Error while creating ticket ({“status”:[{“description”:”closed prevents ticket update”}]})’
I suspect this is related to ticket creation containing an ID which Zendesk sees as an update. This is a new behaviour within the last week; prior to this there were no error notifications.
