Error Boxes displaying oddly

I test the form and purposely leave required fields blank. After submitting I get the proper error message, but red bordered boxes display slightly below and to the right of the required fields. When you hover over them they dissapear. How can I make them over lay directly over the respected fields since that is most likely where they are supposed to display. Any help is appreciated.
