• Hi,
I guess I messed up my database bad due to my attempt to install and reinstall a multisite network. The status right now is:

    wp_5_posts: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_posts’ doesn’t exist
    wp_5_comments: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_comments’ doesn’t exist
    wp_5_links: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_links’ doesn’t exist
    wp_5_options: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_options’ doesn’t exist
    wp_5_postmeta: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_postmeta’ doesn’t exist
    wp_5_terms: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_terms’ doesn’t exist
    wp_5_term_taxonomy: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_term_taxonomy’ doesn’t exist
    wp_5_term_relationships: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_term_relationships’ doesn’t exist
    wp_5_commentmeta: Table ‘domain_wrd1.wp_5_commentmeta’ doesn’t exist

Followed by: “Error establishing a database connection

I have followed the “Create a Netwok” instructions by the book.

When I’ve tried to uninstall the network I have followed this instruction. During my attempt to make a new installation I got this error message “An existing WordPress network was detected”.

Because of this I also deleted the “wp_5_…” tables in the DB. The single installation works if I replace the modified wp-config and .htacces-files with the original versions.

I’ve made a proper backup of my database before i started my installation. My host is Blue Host. What must I do to get the network installation back on track? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You say you installed and reinstalled, but … why?

Did you ever have a working install? If so, what behooved you to mess with it and why?

    Hi,
Yes, my initial install worked fine and I created a new site. It didn’t work though. I constantly got “404-” and “500 errors” no mather how I configured my addondomain setup at Blue Host. After several frustrating attempts I finaly took the decision to un- and reinstall the multisite network.

When I login to phpMyAdmin the 9 new “multisite generated tables” in my DB are named “wp_3_…” not “wp_5_…”. Could this be part the problem?

Warning: An existing WordPress network was detected.

Please complete the configuration steps. To create a new network, you will need to empty or remove the network database tables.

Could removing/deleting these 9 new “wp_3…” tables for my subdomain site have any effect on my origin and working site? I’m in need of a fresh start so I can reinstall the network again.

An answer would be very nice! 🙂
    Big thanks!

I’m in need of a fresh start so I can reinstall the network again.

I would do that. Unraveling this backwards is time consuming and a hassle. (It CAN be done, but it requires more free time than I have). If you’re not going to lose anything, delete the files and wipe your DB and start over.

Also BEFORE you map a domain, make a subsite and test it 🙂
