error establishing a database connection

    I have had my website running for more than a year and this morning I tried to view my site and this is my message, “error establishing a database connection”. I can not find easy step by step instructions on how to fix this problem. Please help.

    As far as the version of WordPress I always update it but since I can not log on I can not tell you for certain what version I am running.

    My whole business is my website so this matter being resolved quickly is important to us.

    Here are some basic troubleshooting questions to help narrow down the problem:

    Have you, or anyone on your team, made any changes, or added/updated a plugin recently?

    Do you have access to your host account and the files for your WordPress website?

    Do you know how to find your database login data and compare to your WordPress configuration (viewing wp-config.php from the file explorer on your hosting account)?

    Has your host recently made any changes/updated their servers, etc. that you know of?
