Error establishing a database connection!

I get the following error when attempting to log in. It seems unusual to me since I’ve never altered wp-config. Any help?
Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.
* Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

so the blog is already installed…
maybe ur server’s sql went kaput or down for sometime. check backend if database is still there. then yell at the admin. :p as i normally do.

Weird.. I just had the same problem.. I looked in cpanel and both of mySQL databases are gone!!! I have emailed my host.
What were you doing just before this happened? Maybe we can figure something out.

Also who is your host? I am with bloghosts.

It’s their issue.
Email them lots.

They are generally very quick to reply to any problems if you submit a ticket to the “help desk”. I am sure this will be resolved quickly.

We’ll see. I haven’t heard back from them yet. This is unusual. Did you put in a request also?

Oh, I had the same problem hardly a few hours ago. It seems that my issue was that I hadn’t uploaded my files into the correct folder. But after I ammended that, it was all go for me.

so all the users lost their databases? hopefully they have backups unlike mine…

I don’t think the databases are lost because when you look in cpanel you can see that your SQL size is the same as before.
Still glad I have personal backups but I am sure they do too.
