We receive error “establishing a database connection” since yesterday. We can’t login to /wp-admin/ because it’s giving an error also. What can we do to fix this?

Hi there,

The “Error establishing a database connection” message always comes up when WordPress can’t connect to your database.

Double-check that your database credentials (username, password, table prefix) in the wp-config file are correct.

You’ll have to access your wp-config file via FTP. If your web host uses CPanel, login to CPanel – file manager – public_html and locate your wp-config file.

What if I don’t know my FTP user password? Is there a way to reset this?

Your host should have a guide on this, but usually, your FTP password can be seen in the FTP area of your account and it is also where you can reset your password.
