We are running out own server, and have been running 2 sites since January. The main site hasn’t been created yet but we still have subsites operating:

    http://142.33.224.13/grade8
    http://142.33.224.13/catzcrew

The grade 8 site has suddenly stopped working. We no longer see it under “my sites” as “grade 8,” just as 142.33.224.13 (which is meant to be the main website). We can’t even log in to see the dashboard!

There is obviously something wrong with the SQL database but we have no idea what or how to fix it. Our website is down and we don’t have a backup of the database. How do we find the issue or repair the database? Not familiar with wordpress so a step by step would be helpful!

Yikes. Well. Go look in the DB and see how many wp_x_options tables you have.

But if you have no backup, you may be DOA.

What would I do and how many tables should I have?

You should have a wp_x_options table for each site.

    wp_options
    wp_2_options

    etc

How do we view the tables? I don’t know the terminal command to open them.

You’ll need to ask your webhost (or webmaster) how to look at the DB. Normally I’d say use PHPMyAdmin, but I get the feeling that isn’t a possibility for you.

We are our own hosting provider…we run a server here on campus just for our website.

Then you need to go find someone who knows your mySQL stuff. It’s impossible for me to know what you have installed :/
