• Hi everyone, I’m having serious issues with my blog/website. I keep getting “Error in Establishing A Data Connection” or else the following;

    Error establishing a database connection
    This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at mysql5.webhost.ie. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    Are you sure that the database server is running?
    If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

    Can anyone give me a step by step instructions how to fix this?

    Thank you
    Triona

    So, in your wp-config.php file, are you sure you have the correct username and password?

    Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?

    Are you sure that the database server is running?

    Hi, I can’t even open the site page now. When I go to wordpress dashboard it says data not available. Could anyone tell me what the problem is?

    Thanks

    You need to address those three questions first, they have been telling you what the problem might be since 5 days ago.

    Access your server via FTP or SFTP and open your wp-config.php file with a plain text editor.

    1. Does it contain the correct database username and password?

    2. If yes, does it contain the correct database hostname?

    3. If yes, contact your hosting provider and ask them why your database server is offline.
