    Hi,
    I have installed Loco translate.
If I go to Loco Translate>plugins>Hotel Booking (motopress plugin)>Nederlands
I will get “Error: Failed to get credentials form” on top
If I try to translate something and push Save button i will get this”Warning: Failed to create backup file in “languages”. Check file permissions or disable backups”

    and:
“Error: Permission denied to update file”

    What is wrong?
    Thanks for Help in advance!
    Regards,
    Jeroen

Is this a new error in 2.3.0, or do you get the same in 2.2.2?

I have 2.3.0 newly installed, did not had 2.2.2 earlier.

I need to know if it’s a new error (actual bug) or whether you just need to change your file permissions like it’s telling you.

Please roll back to 2.2.2 and try again.

Its a new installment, never used an other version..
Just change file permissions? but, on all files? or..?

Sorry, I don’t have not that technical background…

The recommended way to use Loco Translate is to save your own translation files in the “custom” (safe) directory and to make that directory writable by the web server. This is largely the same process as setting up WordPress media uploads and avoids the need for remote access credentials. If you’re not technical enough to set this up, please ask your hosting provider for help.

See manual on file system access: https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/manual/filesystem

As for the error “Failed to get credentials form” This is not strictly normal, so could be a genuine problem. As I’ve said, I need you to install 2.2.2 and try again. If that’s too technical also, then I’m not going to be able to establish if there is a regression bug.

Ok, Let my provider make it writable.

Switched back to 2.2.2, but error “Failed to get credentials form” is still there.

Thanks for doing that. I can’t explain the error, but at least I know it’s not a bug introduced last week.

As discussed, avoid the need for credentials by setting up as I recommended.

    OK everything works now.

When updating WordPress, do I have to rewrite all my translations?
    as for 2.3.0 update too?

I can’t tell you what happened during your WordPress update. If your translations were in unsafe locations and are now gone, then yes, you’ll have to rewrite them. If they’ve not been overwritten, then no, you won’t have to rewrite them.
