• I am trying to import my wordpress.com site into my WordPress site hosted at GoDaddy. I’ve exported my old blog (only 13 MB) and tried to import it into my new ww.wp.xz.cn site at GoDaddy.

Every time I get to about 80% uploaded, however, I get the following error message (using Google Chrome browser…similar results with IE).

The connection to wingsoveriraq.com was interrupted.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall’s or antivirus software’s settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don’t believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Internet > “Options…” (for the current Network). If the “Change proxy settings…” button (in the Network tab) is present, click on that and make sure your configuration is set to “Direct”.

I have tried this dozens of times, and each time it occurs at about the 80% mark. I am using the web application to upload. What else could I possibly do?

  • Have you checked your upload limit, when you go to import it should say Choose a file from your computer: (Maximum size: 7MB) or whatever it is.

This would be the first thing that I would check as I have had similar issues importing backups and had to modify my php.ini file. But I am on a vps so I was able to do it myself, if it is the case you would have to have godaddy modify it for you, if they do that, I have never used godaddy hosting so I have no clue.

Who is your internet provider? Perhaps you are being throttled down by them?
