    Hello Support Team,

I am encountering an issue with the Google Site Kit plugin on my website. Specifically, I am seeing the following error message:

“An error prevented this Widget from being displayed properly.”

I’ve tried to troubleshoot the issue, but I haven’t been able to resolve it on my own. Could someone please assist me in identifying what might be causing this error and how to fix it?

Here are some details about my setup:

    • WordPress Version: Version 6.7.1
    • Google Site Kit Version: Version 1.140.0
    • Theme in use: Generatepress GP
    • Error Message: “An error prevented this Widget from being displayed properly.”

I’ve attempted the following steps with no success:

    1. Steps I’ve already tried:
    2. Cleared cache and disabled other plugins using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, but the issue persists.
    3. Reinstalled WordPress core files.
    4. Disconnected my account from the associated email ID and reset Site Kit, but the error remains.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance on resolving this issue.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Best regards,

    Ameer

Thanks for reaching out @ameermuneer, and sharing the troubleshooting checks you performed. This error you’re encountering is likely as a result of a Google Chart Library conflict. It’s likely that Site Kit and another plugin or your active theme may be loading this resource simultaneously on the main WordPress dashboard. As you mentioned that this same message appeared while using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, we’ll need to perform some additional checks. To do so, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. A recording of error as it appears when using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. Once the error appears, please demonstrate what you see when opening the browser console tab, displaying any errors. You can use a service such as Loom to share a screen recording, while using the same form to share this privately.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you.

We received your Site Health information, many thanks for sharing. From reviewing the details, I don’t see any plugins that I’m aware load Google Chart library scripts.

To troubleshoot this further, please follow the steps below:

    1. Does the same occur if you temporarily deactivate Updraft Plugin and Quiz And Survey Master?
    2. When you ran a check using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, did you check this with only Site Kit active? Feel free to share a recording of your experience if you wish.

I also requested access to the file you shared in your Site Health information. Once I can review this I can advise further. Thank you.

    Hello James,

Thank you for your quick responds.

    Please see below my answers:

    1. Does the same occur if you temporarily deactivate Updraft Plugin and Quiz And Survey Master? A: I already tried deactivating all active plugins and switching to the default WordPress theme. Additionally, I just now tried temporarily deactivating the Updraft Plugin and Quiz and Survey Master, but the same issue persists.
    2. When you ran a check using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, did you check this with only Site Kit active? Feel free to share a recording of your experience if you wish. A: Yes, I checked the active status and can confirm. I have already shared the recording.

    Thank you James.

Many thanks for sharing the recording @ameermuneer, very useful to see what’s occurring. I can see that you’re also facing some errors within the PageSpeed Insights module. With that I went ahead and created a GitHub issue as I suspect there may be a host or security configuration impacted the dashboard. To troubleshoot this further, please share the following:

    1. In the event something went wrong during a plugin update, does the same occur if you uninstall and reinstall Site Kit?
    2. When checking the Site Kit dashboard from a Chrome browser incognito window does the same occur? If so, please share any browser console errors that appear.
    3. Do you see any warnings or errors when checking your Site Health status  (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs from your Site Health information requested above? Such errors may include REST endpoint references.

Note that another indication that this may be related to a particular configuration at host level, is to check from another site hosted on the same plan. Alternatively, you can rule out any local issue impacted the dashboard by checking Site Kit using this disposable WordPress site.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above, and thanks again for going to the trouble of sharing a recording.

@ameermuneer Just following up with you to check whether you had an opportunity to check the above? In addition to the above, it would be great if you could share the full details of the error, by clicking on the “Copy error contents” button below where you see the error (see this screenshot).

This may be useful to help determine whether this is a hosting configuration related issue, given the other reports are hosted with the same provider.
