Hi,
I have similar problem at my 3 different wordfence which are already installed.
When i login to the wordpress dashboard at the top i saw a warning which says wordfence intallation uncomplete. For checking what is it? I press to continue button. Then licence window opens.
I tried to complete it with several times, with old licence key it didn’t work. Then get the new licence key and it didn’t work as well.
As a final, i checked the plugin list and saw there is a new version of wordfence which is 8.0.2
My installed versions are 8.0.1. not so oal but i made the update at one of the system.
And it starts to works.
Please try to update your wordfence to 8.0.2. I think it solves your problem.
Regards.
@genieman thanks for the advice, but my plugin is Version 8.0.2
i did remove it and reinstall and reactivate the plugin but still get the same error when adding the license key
Hi @kmrsolutions,
Thank you for reaching out!
Problems might arise if you attempt to install your license after 24 hours from generation and you will no longer be able to automatically install the Wordfence license key. Additionally, if you are in a different browser than the one used when requesting your Free Wordfence license, you will be unable to automatically install your new Free Wordfence license. In those cases, you will need to manually copy and paste the key from the email to complete the activation of Wordfence Security.
Aside from verifying that you did not inadvertently copy only part of the license key, I would check whether you can install the license when Wordfence is the only active plugin on your site. There could be a Javascript conflict with another plugin potentially stopping the verification of the key from communicating with our servers.
Please let me know if it still doesn’t work after trying those things.
Thanks,
Margaret
thanks for the reply, i have just disabled all other plugins and requested a new free license, but i still get the same error message.
it is a clean wordpress installation
Hi @kmrsolutions,
Please review all of the troubleshooting steps on the following page and ensured you’ve followed the video guide’s method of obtaining the key: https://www.wordfence.com/help/api-key/#installing-your-free-license-key
There can be some requirements around Cloudflare to allow your site’s IP to access itself via loopback and sometimes our IPs need to be allowed too: https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/#servers-and-ip-range. I wouldn’t necessarily expect these to present an issue during registration but it’s worth checking.
If you’ve tried all of the above, you should still be able to send a diagnostic from the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics menu to us at wftest @ wordfence . com. Click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.
NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email
Thanks,
Margaret
