Hi, just tried to update the plugin to the newest version and got this message:

Warning: require_once(/usr/home/olgadellera.com/web/wp-content/plugins/wpsso/lib/config.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/home/olgadellera.com/web/wp-content/plugins/wpsso/wpsso.php on line 82 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/usr/home/olgadellera.com/web/wp-content/plugins/wpsso/lib/config.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/phpfarm/inst/php-5.6.32/pear/php/’) in /usr/home/olgadellera.com/web/wp-content/plugins/wpsso/wpsso.php on line 82

I deleted the plugin via FTP (whole folder) and re-installed again, via FTP as well, but still getting this message.

    Any solution welcome.

    Best,
    Josep M

It sounds like you’re missing some folder and/or have permission issues. I’m not sure why you’re using FTP – WordPress hasn’t relied on FTP for years, and for good reason since permission issues, incomplete uploads, etc. were a common problem. Why not have WordPress install the plugin directly? See the FS_METHOD constant https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Editing_wp-config.php for more info on using the more current “direct” method of installing themes and plugins.

    Hi JS,

Many thanks for the quick reply. I used the FTP because when I clicked the button to update this error showed already. Then I thought it might be better to delete everything and start again.

Now, I have the plugin installed and it remains in the plugins section. I only have 2 options, activate or delete. Clicking either option will get the same message.
What’s the best thing to do there then? I already tried to dele te all the wows folder but the plugin still shows in the plugin section with the two options mentioned earlier.

    Many thanks,
    Josep M Felip

Remove the wp-content/plugins/wpsso/ folder using FTP.

Then install WPSSO Core using the Plugins -> Add New -> Search plugins… box.

Do not install the plugin by FTP.
