Hi @coltrichardson thanks for opening a support topic with us. Sorry to hear you are facing this issue when trying to connect your Google account with Site Kit. To help you further with this could you please share the following information:
- Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
- Do you see any console errors when this happens?
- Do you get the same happen after performing a Site Kit reset?
Any screenshots or recordings you can share would also be helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions on the above.
I filled out the form and I have a SS of the console error. How would you like me to send it?
@coltrichardson you can use a service such as Imgur to upload your screenshot and share the URL here. Alternatively you can share via a Google Drive link.
@coltrichardson I can see from the Site Health you have shared that you have several plugins active on your site. Could you please try running through the troubleshooting steps here and confirm if you still face the issue when in troubleshooting mode.
I have the same issue in troubleshooting mode. I switched themes to test as well and it did not resolve.
@coltrichardson If possible could you share a recording of what’s happening which will help me to see exactly when this happens. You can use a service such as Loom to record and share the URL here.
Adam, I don’t have any screen recording installed and do not have time to do that right now. This is the series of events:
Set up Site Kit -> Sign in with google -> select account -> Allow permissions (I gave all) -> Continue -> error: internal server error.
@coltrichardson No problem at all and thanks for sharing the steps taken. Could you confirm if you encounter the same from an incognito window?
Do you have another Google account that you can test this with to see if you get the same result?
Can I also ask you to try going to this URL which will create a disposable WordPress site. Please confirm if you encounter the same issue with selecting your account on this site when going through Site Kit setup.
Same result on each of those. I did not try a different Google account because I only have 1 for work.
@coltrichardson When attempting to set up do you reach the section where Site Kit wants additional access to your Google account? If you do, can you check that all are being accepted and share a screenshot of this?
Do you have any other issues when using the same Google account on the platforms themselves such as your Analytics account?
I am giving it all permissions. Currently I am just using the merchant center.
The only reason I put this on the site is because the data I am seeing in my merchant center account is entirely wrong and I was hoping that this would fix that. Example: It lists my average delivery at 19 days when in reality it is 4 days.
Do I have to make a bunch of accounts for this to work? Why don’t all of these google tools link to 1 google account?
@coltrichardson Thanks for your continued cooperation with this and thank you for your patience while we troubleshoot. Could I please ask your current location? The reason I ask this is that some locations can be blocked for reasons outside of our control so let’s rule this out.
Can I also ask when you tested on the disposable WordPress site, did you see the same error 500 console error you shared above? And does this happen at the same point as on your own site? If you are unsure you can use that same link once more to spin up a new site to test this on.
Virginia, same error. This is a really long and time consuming process for this plugin to have not worked at any point. I can’t keep wasting time on this if we do not make any progress soon.
@coltrichardson We do appreciate your time here and appreciate your frustration. At this stage I would like to discuss this further internally with the team and perform some tests on our side. If you do get a moment at any stage it would be greatly helpful if you could share a recording of this in action.
One other thing I wanted to check with you is that you mentioned above that you were looking to check your Merchant Center data. Were you looking to do this from the Site Kit plugin? If so then this will not be possible as Site Kit does not at this time connect with Merchant Center.
If you are still looking to use the plugin then as mentioned I will perform further tests on my side and update you as soon as possible.
