    {
    “error”: “invalid_grant”,
    “error_description”: “Token has been expired or revoked.”
    }

    I created the api/setup on the site just before the weekend. Have not used this before. After ~100 hours of uninterrupted service, this morning at 11:25am est I received this message. Prior to that our email log had zero errors, after this, all emails in error log had an error.

    I just deleted the old api project and started a new one with no problems, we have well over 100 emails sent out by our site some days.

    I wondered if its a GSuite issue of revoking the credentials but I didn’t look before creating this new one. I will relay back again after this week if this happens again. This next time I should be able to see more and send the data.

    Apologies for the lack of info, I suspect I will be updating this thread later when/if this happens again with better details.

  • Hi @cazwp,

    Thanks for your post. Unfortunately the error you are getting is due to the token being revoked by Google (or at least on their side). Unfortunately there is nothing the plugin can do about that, as it simply cannot connect to the Gmail API with a revoked token.

    Please do keep us updated.

    Kind Regards,
    Tim

    Oh wow, thank you very much for the quick response! And that makes sense, I will amend this thread when I learn more. I searched on this support forum and didn’t find anything so maybe it will help other users in the future as well.

    Grateful,
    Lucas

    After doing a little digging, I found a few reasons why this could happen. This article helps explain about a dozen possible causes.

    Within other SMTP plugins there are similar questions being asked so this is a common-ish issue from what I can find.

    I’m pretty sure our issue was in the original email holder changing their global google password.

    I will follow up in a week or two after I’ve run this a bit longer and can validate that is what happened.

    Hi Lucas,

    Great article! Thanks for sharing that.

    Kind Regards,
    Tim

    Sorry but I have the same problem and it is not related to a changed password. That also provides the same problem but my client hasn’t changed his password in a while and still after about a week I have to redo the permission of google or I get the message of “Token has been expired or revoked.”

    Can you please help with this, I have seen multiple people with the same issue

    Hi @shatas,

    The “Token has been expired or revoked.” is an issue on Google’s side – not Post SMTP.

    Please read the article shared by @cazwphttps://blog.timekit.io/google-oauth-invalid-grant-nightmare-and-how-to-fix-it-9f4efaf1da35

    Kind Regarsd,
