    I am in my wordpress admin and there needs to be an update (among other things), and I keep getting this error message: “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.”

    I don’t know what to do. I am very new to this.

    I saw that, and I have no idea where to find the folder to search for it. Also, the message appears in my admin page. Not sure if that is what the article is referencing.

    .maintenance should be located in the root folder of your site.
    So, you’re saying that the message can only be seen in the admin? Front end looks fine?

    Hello,

    it appears that wordpress has automatically updated my site, and now the error is resolved. weird, but I’m grateful for your help. Thank you. 🙂
