  • If you are running WordPress 4.6, the problem is with that. See the many, many other forum posts discussing the same.

I thought WordPress 4.6.1 was going to be released today with the fix? WTF This mail handling problem with WordPress is also impacting many, many other very popular plugins too. A fix is available, but WTF wants to update dozens of sites when the fix should have been released already?

@captaincrank, they are aware of this. https://make.ww.wp.xz.cn/core/2016/08/19/bug-scrub-for-4-6-1/
But they don’t want to release an update for each bug. The major release was just a week ago.

But there are many, many people facing problems with website visitor communications because of WordPress. And it is much easier to just squash the bug with a bug fix release then to force website design companies and webmasters to edit code in many different websites. For example, this bug impacts Wordfence too. Wordfence has over one million installs. The responsible thing for WordPress to do would be to issue the release asap so webmasters are not forced to hand edit multiple files on millions of websites.

WP does that for security bug fixes, which are really critical. This one is high indeed, but it’s just a good stress test for all of us 😉
And you always have an option to downgrade.
