    Hello,
    I receive the error message below in the Configuration panel (even if I add the VAT number without the country prefix). I have noticed this issue today – some days ago, there was no problem.

    Invalid requester VAT number entered in section Options > VIES Validation. The new requester VAT number has NOT been saved, because it would cause the VAT validation to fail at checkout.

    Selected VAT Country: “Cyprus”. Entered VAT Number: “………”. Raw validation response (JSON):

    {
    “valid”: “0”,
    “company_name”: “”,
    “company_address”: “”,
    “errors”: [
    “MS_UNAVAILABLE”
    ],
    “raw_response”: {
    “faultcode”: “soap:Server”,
    “faultstring”: “MS_UNAVAILABLE”
    },
    “euva_validation_result”: “not-valid”
    }

    The error message is MS_UNAVAILABLE, which means “member state unavailable”, ie. the VAT number validation from Cyprus is not available. Due to that, the requester VAT number entered in the settings could not be validated. This error doesn’t depend on the VAT number you entered, and it’s not a bug in the EU VAT Assistant, it’s the remote service that doesn’t work.

    The EU VAT Assistant errs on the side of caution: accepting an invalid number in the settings could make the VAT number validation fail at checkout, therefore the plugin doesn’t save the requester VAT number unless it can be validated.

    The solution is, simply, to wait and try again later. The VAT validation service from Cyprus should become available again, allowing to save your VAT number.
