• We get this error message:

WPtouch: was recently disabled but is still affecting your website and caching pages.
Please reactivate the plugin, disable page caching, then deactivate the plugin again to correct this issue. Fixing this issue prevents cached desktop pages being served to mobile devices and vice-versa. Once fixed, this message will be dismissed automatically. Until fixed, WPtouch will not be shown to mobile visitors, and cannot be previewed.”

In most cases the error message seems to be specified like this:

“WPtouch: WordFence was recently disabled but is still affecting your website and caching pages.”

But in our case there is no plugin named. The WPtouch itself is not disabled and can not be reactivated as it’s still active. The error message is displayed on all websites of our multisite network. But the WPtouch plugin seems to work properly. Anyhow, our clients are irritated.

Please find here one of our sites: http://www.ksbhh.de/

We are using the latest version of your plugin. Can you please take a look on that issue.

    Thanks for your help!
    Cheers, Alex

  • Hi Alex,

In a recent update, Wordfence removed its caching module. This causes the false-positive error you are seeing. The issue was resolved in WPtouch 4.3.9. So please update to the latest version of the plugin and it should help resolve the issue.

    Hi Emilio,
thanks for your answer. Just to clarify: we did not and do not use Wordfence and we are using the latest version (4.3.9) of your plugin. I just wanted to give an example how error messages normally look like. The displayed message does not contain any plugin name. That’s why I’m wondering how to solve the issue…
Thanks for your help – in advance!
    Cheers, Alex

Is the site running any cache plugin or system? If so, it’ll need to be configured to ignore the WPtouch user agent list. You can find the list and instructions for various cache plugins here – Configuring cache plugins for WPtouch.

    Hi Emilio,
we do not use any cache plugin on these sites. Do you have any other ideas what causes this issue?
    Thanks for your help!
    Cheers, Alex

    Alex,

Very strange. Was there a caching plugin active on the site at any point? It sounds like there was. If that’s the case, activate the caching plugin, configure it to ignore the WPtouch user agent list and re-deactivate it.

The user agent list can be found in the article linked below, along with instructions on configuring various cache plugins to play nicely with WPtouch/Pro.

If there was never a cache plugin installed on the site, we may need to take a closer look. You can send temporary/confidential login credentials to [email protected] and we’ll take a look.
