Error Message “Cannot create backup archive correctly”

Hello,
My backups have initially been working fine, without errors or warnings.
Since updating my website to WordPress V5.5, I cannot create a backup. The following message appears: “ERROR: Cannot create backup archive correctly. Aborting creation.”
Please could you advise?

hmm we using the latest WP 5.5 too and also got no issue, so maybe it not because of the WP update, please help me make sure that:
– your server has enough disk space to create a backup file.
– Did you recently install a new plugin or something? maybe it could cause conflict.
– In case it not help, I would need your debug log ( BackWPUp -> Settings ->Logs -> set Logging Level -> debug not translated), run the job again then give me the latest log file at BackWPUp -> Logs.Thank you, this is my debug log:

you are trying to backup BackWPUp’s folders, please excludes all folders named with backwpup-* then you should good to go.
To exclude files/folders: From your job settings -> Files tab -> Tick on all backwpup-* folders.Backwup were already excluded – I have re-run the backup, and it still doesn’t work.
Here is part of the log below. You’ll see that it states: “failed to open stream. File name too long”. I don’t know if that has anything to do with it?

Please EXCLUDE all folder start with
backwpup-in your upload folder.

No, I haven’t recently migrated the site.
I tried uninstalling, and re-installing the plugin. The back up worked fine, although the log still shows several messages – “DEPRECATED: Invalid characters passed for attempted conversion, these have been ignored”.

The plugin worked fine after reinstall, so I guess there must be another plugin that touched the database, which leads to a wrong BackWPUp config.And about
“DEPRECATED: Invalid characters passed for attempted conversion, these have been ignored”.The problem is because of PHP 7.4 and we also have to maintain BackWPUp to works with lower versions of PHP like 5.5 or 5.6 too.
The issue will be fixed in the next plugin update, which released in the next 1 or 2 weeks, in the meantime, you can replace this file with the one inbackwpup/inc/class-option.php
