Hi Scott,
Based on the URL of the document you’re trying to embed it looks like you may be trying to load documents from localhost. If that is the case, check out item #1 in the FAQ which explains how GDE works – specifically the need for the document to be internet accessible (even if its location is kept private) for conversion purposes.
Thanks,
Kevin
Dear Kevin,
OK, can I fix this problem for a Local Host to make sure everything works before I upload the website to the server? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

There isn’t a way to test the plugin with localhost files – it’s simply not possible the way Google Viewer works. You can temporarily post your documents to some staging area online to test them if necessary. You can run the site and plugin in localhost, but the documents must be available online – Google can’t yet reach into your local computer and translate your documents for you – well, I mean, hopefully π
Dear Kevin,
I put the English, Russian, and Mandarin Chinese documents that I want to view using Google Doc Embedder on my current webpage at the following three locations:
http://www.sibersci.com/us-home-english/management-team/
The Russian and Chinese webpage URLs do not display correctly here, but this one address will take you to website containing all 3 documents.
The document addresses to be displayed using Google Doc Embedder included:
http://www.sibersci.com/app/download/5403206/CV+for+Dr.+Scott+Best%2C+March+2014+–+ENGLISH-1.pdf
http://www.sibersci.com/app/download/5403255/CV+for+Dr.+Scott+Best%2C+April+2014+–+Russian.pdf
http://www.sibersci.com/app/download/5403268/CV+for+Dr.+Scott+Best%2C+March+2014+–+CHINESE.pdf
The English and Russian documents are displayed without any problems using Google Doc Ebedder, but the Chinese document will not display with Google Doc Embedder. Is there a bug that prevents Mandarin Chinese documents from displaying with Google Doc Embedder?
As you can see on my existing webpage, 1and1 provides me with a utility to display all three documents successfully, which is what I want to replicate on my WordPress site. Do you recognize the utility being used by 1and1 to display PDF documents?
Thanks,

Thanks for the link, but you’ve already replaced the plugin with another on this page, so there isn’t any specific guidance I can give.
Dear Kevin,
You are looking at my existing website, http://www.sibersci.com, that was not created using WordPress, but was created using 1and1 MyWebsite tools. It is very limited in what it can do, which is why I am moving to WordPress.
I you look at the following page (http://www.sibersci.com/us-home-english/management-team/), you will see that 1and1 is using a PDF display utility that works great, but I cannot find this utility for WordPress. Do you recognize the utility from the physical appearance of the PDF display window? If not, do you know which company or group may have created the utility?
Next, if you use Google Doc Embedder on a demo page in WordPress, and link to the following document you will discover a problem with Google Doc Embedder:
http://www.sibersci.com/app/download/5403206/CV+for+Dr.+Scott+Best%2C+March+2014+–+ENGLISH-1.pdf
http://www.sibersci.com/app/download/5403255/CV+for+Dr.+Scott+Best%2C+April+2014+–+Russian.pdf
http://www.sibersci.com/app/download/5403268/CV+for+Dr.+Scott+Best%2C+March+2014+–+CHINESE.pdf
Google Doc Embedder can display the English and Russian document without any problems, but it cannot display the Mandarin Chinese document. Were you aware of this inability for Google Doc Embedder to display Mandarin Chinese documents? Is there a way to fix this problem?
Thanks,
