    Hi,

    In a multisite, a domain is to be changed subsequently.

    Problem description: A multisite was set up in a domain to realize a redesign. Several domains were created for this purpose. Now the transition to the live switch is to be rehearsed. For this purpose, a subdomain was created from the domain to be switched live, which refers to the project. This was realized by means of an A record.

    I get an error message https://www.XXDOMAIN.de/wp-signup.php?new=SUBDOMAIN.XX

    Can someone help me, what the error message means, how it can be fixed?

    This is really not an “error” per se.

    You’ve pointed the sub-domain to the multisite network.

    But you’ve not added the domain inside the multisite network itself.

    So WordPress thinks you want to create a new site for this subdomain in the multisite network.

    If you want this sub-domain you be the new URL of an existing site, you need to go to your network dashboard and edit this site’s address to the sub-domain.
