Hello, I am unable to update to latest version of WP 6.5.3 . I am site administrator.

I have the same problem with updating themes (1), plugins(4), and WP 6.5.3 from 6.2.2.

To update this I simply have to click on update and wait for the run to finish.

I am using Google Chrome , Debian Linux, and my Host server is Digital Ocean.

Here is the returned message after clicking on “update”

    Update WordPress

    Downloading update from https://downloads.wp.xz.cn/release/wordpress-6.5.3-new-bundled.zip…

The authenticity of wordpress-6.5.3-new-bundled.zip could not be verified as no signature was found.

    Unpacking the update…

    Could not create directory.: /home/xxxxx/public_html/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-6.5.3-new-bundled

    Installation failed.

I have attempted to check the permissions of the folders and files in they seem correct.

Given the above error message I referenced https://host4geeks.com/blog/how-to-resolve-the-wordpress-plugin-update-failed-download-failed-unauthorized-error-message/

for help in correcting it however to no avail.

    Thank you. Please advise.

    Hello,

From my perspective, this only happens due to folder permission and lack of space. If you have set the folder permission properly then try to optimize your disk space.

Download some large media files and remove it from your hosting. Then try again.

    Hello,

I checked my permissions and they seem to be correct.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Not sure what else to try. There were many comments I deleted but that

didn’t really matter in this situation. I’ll keep trying.

Just discovered this under Site Health / File Permissions:

Shows whether WordPress is able to write to the directories it needs access to.

    The main WordPress directoryNot writable

    The wp-content directoryNot writable

    The uploads directoryNot writable

    The plugins directoryNot writable

    The themes directoryNot writable

All of the file permissions are set as follows:
